FG and ASUU Strike Update Today 2023
Below is the latest news we have so far between the Federal Government (FG) and the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU).
On February 14, the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) declared a one-month warning strike, which the union said was rolled over from its suspended action last year.
Since the Federal Government has failed to meet the demands of the Academic Staff Union of Universities, the union has rolled over its ongoing strike for another 12 weeks.
ASUU said it took this decision after its National Executive Council meeting which started on Sunday night at the Comrade Festus Iyayi National Secretariat, University of Abuja. This decision according to the ASUU President will give the Federal Government enough time to resolve all the outstanding issues and meets their demands once and for all.
When Will ASUU Call Off Strike 2023?
The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has extended the ongoing strike by another 3 months. Therefore, ASUU will call off the strike if the Federal Government meets ASUU’s demands.
However, if the Federal Government fails to meet ASUU’s demands the strike will be indefinite. We hope that the Federal Government will fulfill the promises made to the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), in order to prevent disruptive strikes and engender uninterrupted academic studies.
