FG and ASUU Strike Update Today 2023
On February 14, the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) declared a one-month warning strike, which the union said was rolled over from its suspended action last year.
Among the major issues given include the replacement of the Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information System (IPPIS) with the University Transparency Accountability Solution (UTAS), which ASUU designed for the payment of its members emoluments, earned academic allowances, and funding for revitalisation of public universities.
Other reasons also include endorsement of the renegotiated 2009 ASUU-FGN Agreement, promotion arrears, among others.
For these reasons, the Federal Government and the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), will meet on Tuesday to find an amicable solution to the continuous strike issues which affect all public universities in Nigeria.
We hope that the Federal Government will honor the promises made to the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), in order to prevent disruptive strikes and engender uninterrupted academic studies.
